Why is Hamilton so determined to blow up their stadium at the end of the year?

They have nowhere else to play, so would it not be smart to keep Ivor Wynne as a backup?

That was Bob Young's idea. He didn't like any sites the new stadium was going to be located on. Didn't like Harbourfront, didn't like it here, there & everywhere. Now, they'll go ona year long road trip in London, Toronto & Moncton. Brought this all on his team by himself. And construction has to start the minute the season ends soi the stadium will be ready for the 2015 Pan Am Games.

So they're building it on the exact same spot as their current stadium?

They could always play many of their games indoors. Up the street in Toronto!?!?!?

The city of Hamilton was throwing their restrictions in the pot more than Bob
Young. Bob put forth a handful of options and it was the city that nixed everything except a stadium by the lake in a neighborhood downtown....... No parking, no option for concerts etc at the site. ....... Ivor Wynn as it stands needs multiple repairs so thats the reason for replacing it. ...... And of course Pan Am monies.
......And the city of Hamilton wonders why it can't seem to secure any professional sports teams.

It sure seemed everytime the City came up with a site, Young would say nope. Well, now a real kettle of fish. Going on the road for a season.

In truth the city only came up with one site. The Harbour West site. A beautiful equivalent to the Calgary Peace Bridge. It would've had majestic views of Lake Ontario, would've been the ideal site to watch a sunset however it would've been brutal. Parking for 5,000 cars so it's car pool time! Noise restrictions because of the residential area so that means no extra events like concerts or firework nights. The city came forward with one plan and one idea only and abandoned the other 5 locations. The Ticats got hooked on the East Mountain (not Blue Mountain...) because of the development around it would allow it to be a leader. Bob even tried to get a USL team to create more events for the stadium instead of simply 10 football games.

Another from 2010 discussing if Hamilton City Council can't come to the table then Moncton would be a solution - http://bleacherreport.com/articles/4363 ... or-nothing
    includes this quote:

Another article about the two sites from July 9th 2010 - http://www.examiner.com/article/tiger-c ... -locations

Finally one from the Ticats themselves where they had a meeting about the East Mountain location and over 800 people showed up for it. Businessmen in Hamilton backed and supported it - http://www.ticats.ca/article/east-mount ... full-house

    That event had a follow up - http://www.ticats.ca/article/caretaker- ... e-august-8
